FIFO @ Haas (Berkeley, CA) - It was my first day of my final year in undergrad and at Berkeley! I can’t believe it finally arrived. Anyway, my English class was assigned to a classroom in Haas Business School this semester, so I get to enjoy the proximity of being right next to a cafe every Tuesday and Thursday. So, naturally I decided to try something on my first day. I haven’t been to the Haas cafe prior to its renovation, so I can’t compare it to what it used to taste like. But now it’s run by the same vendors that run Strada, Cafe Zeb, and FSM, so that should give you an idea of the quality.

I was pretty hungry since my classes start early (9:30 is early for me!) so the Seared Chicken Breast with Coriander Aioli looked really tasty to me. And it was pretty good. I know it looks like my burger is just kind of plopped onto the plate, but it’s because they already seperated all of the different toppings so I could put in what I wanted. I actually prefer that instead of me trying to take out soggy lettuce or something. I was surprised at having something like coriander aioli at a campus cafe but it was a nice surprise.

I regularly get a warm drink when I come from my first class now and a snack. I do want to try more things off of the menu. I get there before lunch time and my class gets out after, so I generally avoid a potential lunch rush. It’s nice because there are really good study tables along with comfy armchairs and there are outlets everywhere.
